CART CAD Model Generator

* Overview

      CART is intended to automate the drafting portion of as-
  built and facilities management recording which it does by
  building a database of field measurements and annotations from
  which it creates a CAD model using AutoCad blocks.  All
  entities created are linked to the records that created them
  and, optionally, to more detailed database tables for
  individual entity types.
      Attribute and Extended Entity values as well as block and
  layer names are generated by the database as is the optional
  textual information annotating each measured point and/or block
  insertion point.
      Models can be in either 2 or 3 dimensions and measurements
  can be provided by several techniques including electronic
  surveying equipment, conventional hand measurements and a
  digital plane table using either a steel tape or a visible
  laser.

  * The current tools, refered to here by the extensions of their

    * D2A Database to Autocad   The drawing generator
    * F2D Field to Database     The recording system
    * F2W Field to WCS          Converts to World coordinates
    * X2D DXF to Database       Creates a database from a DXF
    * P2D Photo to Database     Uses the ASR image rectifier
  * Other interpreters for the data structure are anticipated and
    could include:
    * D2L Data to Lisp       Final product is a lisp routine
    * D2M Data to MapMaker   A shareware GIS for Windows
    * D2W Data to WWW          A GIS for the World Wide Web
    * D2I Data to Integraph  etc...

* Requirements
  * Software
    * AutoCad R12 for DOS or Windows
    * AutoCad Data Extension (ADE) 1.1
    * Database Access
      * dBaseIII, III+ or IV for DOS
      * Windows data access programs provide limited functions
  * Hardware
    * Machinery capable of running the above with at least 2 megs
      of free hard disk space
