CART CAD Model Generator

* Configuration Files

The current tools, refered to here by the extensions of their
configuration files can be described as follows:
 
D2A Database to Autocad  The drawing generator
F2D Field to Database    The recording system
F2W Field to WCS         Converts to World coordinates
X2D DXF to Database      Reads a DXF and creates a database
P2D Photo to Database    Uses ASR a digital image rectifier

Other interpreters for the data structure are anticipated and
could include:

D2L Data to Lisp         Final product is a lisp routine    
D2M Data to MapMaker     A shareware GIS for Windows   
D2W Data to WWW          Distributed GIS for the World Wide Web
D2I Data to Integraph    etc...


* Program Files

  * CART.LIC  - licence reference
  * CART.MNA
    * the uncompiled CART menu
    * This is appended to either 
      * the ADE.MNU file from your ADE directory 
      * an ACAD.MNU in your CART configuration directory if you
        prefer to have a custom menu for the other Autocad
        functions
    * if you choose the latter option it is recommended that you
      have the ADE pull-down (pop 8) available for custom queries
      and ADE functions.

  * CART.MNL
    * the library of AutoLisp routines that control the operation
      of the AutoCad component of CART

  * CART.BAT
    * the library of DOS calls that control CART when accessing
      the DOS environment

  * CART.PRG
    * The dBaseIII program controlling CART while in the dBase
      environment
    * Other ???.PRG files are used by subroutines
      * LAY.PRG - layer management interface
      * BLK.PRG - block management interface
      * XYP.PRG - used when converting to World Coordinates

  * CART.GRP
    * A Windows 3.1x program group which can be used instead of
      creating your own icon though executable and working
      directories may have to be edited.

  * ???.DWG
    * Symbology used by CART, mostly 1x1x1 symbols intended for
      differential scaling.
    * Details about their intended uses can be obtained through
      the menu item: CART->Blocks->Blocks DBF
    * _??.DWG - These blocks are specifically called by some of
                the CART routines.

    * CART-MAN.TXT    - this document in ASCII format
    * CART-MAN.WP     - this document in WordPerfect 5.1 format


* CART Demo Files

  * CARTSYM.DWG - A single drawing containing all the current
                  symbology and coordinated with the BLOCKS
                  database.
                - New blocks should be created in this
                  environment
  * CART.LIC    - licence reference

  * Project Template Files
      [proj]  - indicates the the name of a drawing/database
                combination
      [class] - indicates a class of object as determined by the
                dbflist variable set by the user
      [obj]   - indicates the name of a selected object
    * in the \CARTDEMO directory
      * [proj].D2A    - project settings sheets
      * [proj].DWG    - blank drawings with CART menu and
                        appropriate views set
      * [proj].RSH    - examples of recording sheets
    * in the DBF sub-directory
      * DBF\[proj].DBF  - sample database files
      * DBF\[proj].DBK  - backup database files (before last
                          change)
      * DBF\[proj].DB_  - another backup (before newproj)
      * DBF\[class].DBF - includes: finds, doors, power, phone,

      * DBF\BLOCKS.DBF    - Sample Block management database
      * DBF\BLK_BLNK.DBF  - Blank version of the above
      * DBF\LAYERS.DBF    - Sample Layer management database
      * DBF\LYR_BLNK.DBF  - Blank version of the above
      * DBF\XYP_BLNK.DBF  - Template for conversions to World
                            Coordinates
      * DBF\S-AND-R.PRG   - a template program to automate global
                            changes within the database.
                          - copy to your working DBF subdirectory
                            and edit as required
      * *.CDF - comma delimited files used as an interim step
                from some processes and can be deleted.

    * in the TXT sub-directory
      * [obj]*.TXT  - general text files describing an object
      * [obj]*.[in] - text files describing an object written by
                      a user identified by the [in] string.

    * in the GIF sub-directory
      * [obj]*.GIF  - images of a particular object
      * [blk]*.GIF  - images of an object associated with a
                      particular autocad block

    * in the MIL dub-directory
      * [proj]*.MIL - 1 bit scanned images for TERNOvly
    
    * TEMP.* & *.TMP  - wherever found are temporary files which
                        can be deleted.

  * Examples and Templates
    * D2A_ADA   - template database using Angle, Distance, Angle
                  measurement system as obtained from a
                  theodolite.
    * D2A_ADZ   - template database using an Angle, Distance & Z-
                  value measurement system such as would be
                  obtained from a plane-table.
    * D2A_FMR   - sample residential database for Facilities
                  Management
    * D2A_RUN   - test database using Running dimensions for
                  individual surfaces and ADZ measurements for
                  the corners
    * D2A_UCB   - template for Scaled Block insertion, used for
                  recording individual components such as boards
    * D2A_TGR   - 3D grid for testing Scaled Block Insertions
    * D2A_XYZ   - test database using XYZ coordinates

  * "Real" Projects
    * MMFL      - the McLean Mill fish ladder that started it all
    * HUM(1-3)  - Three squares from the Humeima excavations

                  Disto laser
